One of the things you should take advantage of with your students is the graph drawer.  After you record your scene and trace your points and analyze your performance, there is a small button on the lower right hand side that looks somewhat like a TV screen on s stand.

When you hit it, it shows you information about exactly how far your performing points have traveled and how fast your performer is traveling at any one point in time.

You can also show only how far and how fast the items are going on a strictly vertical plane or on a strictly horizontal plane.
