Make sure you (and your students) take advantage of the ‘speedometer.’ After the recording is made, and the points are set, you can view many specifics without going into the graph drawer.

The speedometer is usually in a default location in the upper left hand corner, but can be moved around the screen so it doesn’t interfere with you viewing your subject.

I call it a speedometer in this tip, but it will actually show you many other things besides speed, depending on which lens you are currently using.
